Jan Simane
Library Director, Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz, Max-Planck-Institut
Jan holds a PhD in art history and since 1996 has served as Library Director at the Kunsthistorisches Institut, Max-Planck-Institut, in Florence, Italy. Before he became head of this internationally renounced research library, Jan worked for four years in the art department at the Hessian State Museum (Darmstadt, Germany). From 1994 to 1996, he completed a two-year training in librarianship with state diploma examination. Being member of the academic staff of the Kunsthistorisches Institut, Jan is active in leading the library and performing research both in library science and art history. For many years, he has been active in various international affiliations and committees as well as in long term projects and co-operatives.
