Your "New and Changed Entries" for February included a new number, 616.027, with the caption "Experimental medicine [formerly 619]." I have a work about clinical trials; does it belong under the new number?

Reference: "New and Changed Entries" for February

No. That new number is designed for the classification of works covering more basic medical research, that is, research that has not yet reached the stage where clinical trials with human patients can begin. Use 615.50724 for general works about clinical trials: 615.5 is the general number for therapies, and T1--0724 is the Table 1 notation for experimental research. If you have a work that focuses on clinical trials of a particular kind of therapy, class it with the kind of therapy, plus notation T1--0724, e.g., clinical drug trials 615.580724 (615.58 Drug therapy plus T1--0724). If you have a work that focuses on clinical trials of therapies for a specific disease, class it with the disease, plus notation 06 Therapy from the table under 616.1-616.9, plus T1--0724. For example, class a work on clinical trials of therapies for diabetes in 616.462060724 (616.462 Diabetes + 06 Therapy + T1--0724 Experimental research). If you have a work that focuses on clinical trials of a specific kind of therapy for a specific disease, class it with the disease, plus notation for the kind of therapy from the table under 616.1-616.9, plus T1--0724. For example, class a work on clinical trials of drugs for treatment of diabetes in 616.4620610724 (616.462 Diabetes + 061 Drug therapy + T1--0724 Experimental research).

We post selected updates to the Classification to this location on our web site on the first day of every month. These postings remain on that page for three months. Be sure to check the site regularly.
