CountryWatch launches Forecast, a comprehensive view of the global economy

CountryWatch provides critical country-specific intelligence and data to over 4000 clients including corporations, government agencies, universities, schools, libraries and individuals that require up-to-date news and information on each of the recognized countries of the world.

Recently the company launched Forecast, which provides a vast amount of data heretofore unavailable in single location and offers a comprehensive country-by-country view of the global economy. It includes a five-year macroeconomic forecast for each country, and a 20-year forecast of energy demand, supply, and pricing for every country.

Forecast projects the major macroeconomic variables of each of the established countries in the world over a 20 year period. These variables include GDP and its principal components: consumption, investment spending, government spending, exports and imports. In addition, the CountryWatch Macroeconomic Forecast makes projections on inflation, interest rates, inflation rates, foreign exchange rates, fiscal policy including tax rates, and the primary components of the balance of payments as well as foreign exchange reserves.

The power of more than 3,300 member libraries

Electronic resources are an integral part of your library’s collection, but the process of selecting appropriate resources and negotiating contracts with vendors can be a daunting task. We would like to make it easier.

We are able to do that by collaborating with other OCLC-owned service centers domestically and internationally, thereby leveraging the power of the OCLC cooperative. In doing so we have strengthened our negotiating power to over 3,300 member libraries and cultural heritage institutions—allowing us to obtain valuable promotional offers, contracts and group discounts on eBooks, eAudiobooks and reference databases. Formerly known as the Eastern Collection, today the eContent offering, with the strength of the OCLC cooperative behind it, is poised to help you make more informed choices and provide the broadest content available at a substantial discount.

How to order eContent from OCLC Eastern

To order, request a quote or free trial, simply select the partner or database you’re interested in, then click on the Free Trials/Ordering tab and fill out the required information.

There is some information that you’ll need to know before ordering, and while each eContent partner or database requires slightly different information, the following generally applies: academic libraries may need to know how many FTEs they have and public libraries will likely be asked for average circulation statistics.

Once you have submitted your order, an OCLC Eastern staff member will contact you to discuss next steps. Need help? Simply contact us.
