Shailen Karur

Senior Software Engineer

Shailen joined OCLC full-time in July 2009 and built Azriel, a data mining tool to discover patterns within the context of Archival Materials. Prior to OCLC, he worked with a number of Bay Area companies in various capacities including being an Individual Contributor at Oracle, Google, Intel, Tivo, Visa International, Wells Fargo and Pacific Telesis. He has spent around 23 years chasing after software optimization and expressive computer languages.

His current interests include strategies involved in leveraging multi-core and clustered environments using processor/core affinities, building data driven applications and pursuing networking technologies predicated on event based execution.

Come chill time, Shailen likes to jam and collaborate with his daughter on some musical excursions, aside from reading loads of non-fiction and (re)learning to play the sitar.

Shailen holds a Bachelor of Technology (Hons) in Metallurgical Engineering from IIT, Kharagpur, India.
