Ann McCranie
Director
Research Insights
Ann joined OCLC in 2026 to lead Research Insights, a team of research scientists and engineers focused on translating research into practical guidance for library leaders and their institutions. In this role, she helps connect OCLC Research's priorities to the decisions libraries are navigating today—across a landscape shaped by rapid change in technology, AI-informed scholarly workflows, and evolving research infrastructure. Ann brings more than a decade of experience leading research programs in higher education, with expertise in mixed methods research, research operations, and research communication. Most recently, she held programmatic leadership roles at Indiana University, where she built research services, guided cross-functional teams, and helped institutes and centers navigate institutional change. Ann holds a PhD and has grounded her career in the conviction that research is most meaningful when it informs decisions, shapes action, and opens new possibilities.
