Description
To effectively position the research library as a valuable partner in the knowledge creation enterprise, an understanding of the research library environment as well as the trends impacting the higher education and scholarly communications ecosystems is key. It is critical to see the library needs in the context of its networks, its current reach, and its potential influence.
But seeing the “big picture” needed to effectively strategize and lead is extremely difficult when managing the operational day to day. And it’s impossible to keep up with—much less reflect upon—the overwhelming amount of research that is intended to support you.
What if you had a day to engage, reflect, and connect with peers, having productive, thoughtful discussions around core topics central to informing your leadership? And an opportunity to reflect on your library and who to leverage your networks for greater impact?
The OCLC Research Library Partnership hosted a “research retreat” on 23 and 24 April, in Dublin, Ohio, that offers research library leaders
- A synthesis of principal “big picture” issues informing research libraries today
- A structured format with time to reflect on how OCLC Research findings inform leadership at your own institution
- A collective and supportive environment for doing this together, with other library leaders at RLP institutions
- An opportunity to inform how the OCLC RLP provides future support
