A comprehensive geographic dictionary, Columbia Gazetteer provides complete geographic properties, all physical aspects of place, political properties, infrastructure and natural, and agricultural resources.
Included in the gazetteer are entries for about 165,000 place names, ranging from villages, towns, and cities to countries, regions and continents as well as geographical features such as volcanoes, bays, islands, and mountain ranges. Each place name has a separate dictionary-type entry that provides information about the place, such as population, elevation, location, manufactures, and proximity to other geographical points. Each entry also provides the pronunciation of the place name it describes.
