Description
We invite you to join us for a session on an important topic that highlights the OCLC RLP’s convening power and ability to derive insights and thought leadership through Partner engagement.
Open research is increasingly a strategic priority for libraries and their parent institutions, often driven by institutional and national policies. In this session, Rebecca Bryant will present insights from a recent RLP leadership roundtable that brought together perspectives from research libraries across the US, Canada, the UK, and Australia. Roundtable discussions revealed a spectrum of institutional practices related to open research strategy, ranging from explicit institution-level statements to tacit support through library services offerings.
The webinar will examine the library’s evolving role, institutional strategies for supporting open research, and the emergence of new campus structures, offering case study examples from RLP institutions It will also address external influences such as cybersecurity and AI, and how they intersect with open research activities.
While libraries provide a growing array of services to support open scholarship across the research lifecycle, library expertise and leadership often go unrecognized by other campus stakeholders. The presentation will conclude by considering the challenges libraries face in communicating an evolving value proposition and synthesize key insights from OCLC research about institutional collaboration, social interoperability, and open access discovery.
This session will be of interest to library leaders, scholarly communications librarians, and library communications professionals.
All affiliates of OCLC Research Library Partnership organizations are invited to participate in live sessions. The recording is available to all.
