Description

Libraries play a crucial role in ensuring equitable access to information, yet many collections materials remain inaccessible to patrons with disabilities. What are the opportunities for resource sharing practitioners to leverage their expertise and systems to help bridge this gap?

In this webinar, resource-sharing practitioners from three libraries offer different models of improving collection accessibility for users who need accommodations. Presenters will highlight some of their own efforts, provide insights on starting this work, and share lessons from collaborating with partners like Disability Services Offices (DSOs). The range of experiences discussed will help attendees understand the variety of ways that resource sharing practitioners can contribute to accessibility efforts. The session will also outline considerations for making ILL materials more accessible and recent developments, including efforts to incorporate accessibility provisions into the US ILL Code and ongoing work in OCR technologies.

This webinar is designed for resource sharing and interlibrary loan practitioners, accessibility and disability services staff, copyright and licensing specialists, and anyone interested in improving access to library collections.

All affiliates of OCLC Research Library Partnership organizations are invited to participate.
