Description

The forthcoming OCLC Research report Social Interoperability in Research Support: Cross-campus partnerships and the university research enterprise examines the growing imperative for cross-campus, cross-domain institutional collaboration in the provision of successful research support services. It explores the social and structural norms that shape cross-campus collaboration and offers a conceptual model of key university stakeholders in research support.

The need for increasing cross-campus social interoperability is likely to be amplified due to the current pandemic and its longer-term effects. In this webinar, the report authors will describe the key takeaways of their research, particularly focusing on:

  • A description of the highly decentralized, dynamic, and complex adaptive system of research universities in the United States.
  • A conceptual model of campus research support stakeholders that provides an overview of the stakeholders involved in the provision and consumption of research support services, including context about their priorities and contributions.
  • Discussion of the stakeholder ecosystem for four research support activities: research data management (RDM), research information management (RIM), research analytics, and ORCID adoption.
  • Best practices, strategies, and tactics for optimizing social interoperability in research support.

This webinar is the first in a series offered by the OCLC Research Library Partnership focusing on cross-campus collaboration in research support. It will be of interest to anyone interested in cultivating positive campus partnerships to support research activities. We expect this to be of particular interest to scholarly communication librarians and library leaders.

Works in Progress: An OCLC Research Occasional Webinar Series to talk about work happening in OCLC Research – we'd like to present our work informally and get feedback from you, our Partners. We'd also like this to be a venue for Partner institutions. What are you working on that everyone should know about? What input would help you move forward? Let us know!
