LEIDEN, Netherlands, 13 May 2025—The University of Zaragoza and Loyola University, both in Spain, have selected OCLC's WorldShare Management Services (WMS) as their fully integrated library services platform to handle all essential functions of several campus libraries.

University of Zaragoza, founded in 1474, is a public institution for research and higher education focused on advancing teaching innovation. As the only public university in the Aragon region, it offers a wide range of academic programs covering all fields of knowledge at bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels, as well as its own degree programs.

"The implementation of OCLC services will enable the University of Zaragoza Library to have a library management platform tailored to the needs of its various user groups, across all the scenarios in which its activities take place: teaching, research, and the creation and transformation of information within the institution and in society at large," said Cristina Seguí, Director of the University of Zaragoza Library.

The institution's libraries, distributed across several campuses and specialized faculties, offer access to more than one million volumes and electronic resources.

"We look at this as an opportunity to review and optimize our services, ensuring that the university community has swift access to all our resources, both print and electronic, in line with our quality policy focused on development, innovation, and continuous improvement," added Seguí.

Founded through the integration of the Higher Technical School of Agriculture (established in Cordoba in 1963) and the Faculty of Theology of Granada (established in 1949), Loyola University has three campuses located in the Andalusian cities of Seville, Cordoba and Granada (Spain). Focused on academic and research excellence, this institution of higher education offers a wide range of bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs. The libraries play a key role in achieving the institution's objectives. Known for their specialized collections on economics and business, as well as theology and philosophy, Loyola University Libraries are committed to expanding their resources in terms of both subject matter and format.

"We have chosen to implement OCLC's WorldShare Management Services as our new library platform with the aim of optimizing and unifying our university's library services. This decision is part of our process of integrating the two existing libraries (one located on the Cordoba and Seville campuses and one belonging to the Faculty of Theology of Granada). We are thus seeking to generate synergies and improve the work systems between the two libraries," explained Ildefonso Camacho Laraña, General Coordinator of the Loyola University Libraries.

Management of electronic and physical resources, improved workflows, and collection data to evaluate library offerings were among the reasons the library selected WMS. Camacho Laraña added that the library was pleased to be "part of a global library community that allows us to reuse data and information, streamlining our workflows and keeping up to date with technological innovations applied to the library field. Also, we're glad to have the increased visibility of our collections provided by WorldCat, as well as access to a greater number of resources for our users."

The library has also incorporated EZproxy, OCLC's software that facilitates remote access to electronic resources.

"We are very pleased to see the momentum of WMS in Spain in university libraries, research centers and specialized libraries," said Eric van Lubeek, EMEA-APAC Managing Director. "We're confident that WMS will help the University of Zaragoza and Loyola University libraries successfully support the goals of their students and faculty."
