With EZproxy, you can:
EZproxy is easy to set up and maintain. It connects to a wide variety of authentication services (including LDAP, SIP, CAS and Shibboleth). Your users connect to EZproxy, then it connects on their behalf to your library's licensed databases to obtain webpages and sends them back to your users. Once you register the EZproxy server address with your database vendor, the vendor sees the requests as coming from an authorized IP address and therefore permits access.
EZproxy integrates a variety of library systems with simple modifications to point users toward your library’s e-resources, creating seamless access. We have also partnered with Lean Library, whose browser extension helps users gain access to their library’s subscriptions via EZproxy regardless of where they start their search. Lean Library uses the WorldCat® Knowledge Base API to connect users to e-resources available through the library on external sites like Google Scholar or PubMed.
OCLC offers two versions of EZproxy: a hosted version that OCLC maintains for you and a stand-alone version that your library manages.
- EZproxy hosted service includes all of the hardware and software components needed as well as all back-ups, security certificates, automatic system and software upgrades, defined customization services, and implementation.
- The stand-alone version is available for servers that run Linux or Windows®..
EZproxy allows your library to deliver e-content to users simply, effectively, and securely no matter where or when they’re searching. EZproxy facilitates a single sign-on to e-content using your institution’s preferred authentication method, such as SAML or LDAP, while protecting user privacy and keeping usage data under library control.
