RLG Partnership Council
In general, the council fulfills a unique advisory role
relative to the RLG Programs agenda. It is advisory to the OCLC Vice
President, Office of Programs and Research and Chief Strategist. Its
work includes:
- Representing the interests of RLG Programs partner
institutions.
- Acting on behalf of RLG Programs partner institutions
by making recommendations on programmatic and research issues and
directions.
- Representing and advocating those directions to the
RLG Programs partner community.
The RLG Partnership Council will provide wide-ranging advice
in order to guide the activities of RLG Programs and OCLC Research.
Advice will be sought in areas such as programmatic needs and
priorities, balancing the RLG agenda with its available budget, and
changing RLG Programs partner financial contribution requirements.
The council meets twice a year and attends the annual
meeting of RLG Programs.
Composition
The RLG Partnership Council has up to 12 members. For the
initial (July 2006) council, five members were appointed by
the former RLG Board of Directors, five members were appointed by the
OCLC Board of Trustees, and two members were appointed, with the
consent of the RLG Board of Directors, by the OCLC Vice President,
Office of Research and Chief Strategist.
Beginning July 1, 2008, and for three years thereafter,
eight members of the council will be elected by RLG Programs partner
representatives and four will be appointed by the OCLC Vice President,
Office of Research and Chief Strategist. Candidates for these appointed representative roles are
identified and recruited based on their paths or work, which would not
ordinarily intersect with RLG Programs.
Update July 2008: In June, 2008, a new RLG Partnership Council was elected and terms commenced on 1 July, 2008. Names of appointed members of the Council (up to four) are being added as they are appointed.
