The Research Planning and Review committee is responsible for creating and updating a continuous and dynamic environmental scan for the Association of College and Research Libraries that encompasses trends in academic librarianship, higher education, and the broader environment.
The committee produces an annual environmental scan "snapshot" to the ACRL Board of Directors for its fall planning meeting and prepares a more formal ACRL environmental scan document every two years for release at the ACRL National Conference. It also identifies the "Top 10 Trends in Academic Libraries" for release every two years in non-National Conference years.
Connaway, who has been Vice-chair of the committee since 2009, rises to the chair after this month's ALA Annual Conference in New Orleans. Under her leadership, the committee will work on the "Top 10 Trends" effort.
ACRL is a division of the American Library Association (ALA).
