Herbert Van de Sompel discusses new protocols to support and connect digital libraries
DUBLIN, Ohio, USA, September 12, 2003—In an interview in the July issue of the OCLC Newsletter, the 2003 Library & Information Technology Association/OCLC Kilgour Award winner and member of OCLC's Research Advisory Committee chats with Tom Storey about his current job, his interest in transforming scholarly communication, and the role and potential impacts of the Open Archives Initiative (OAI) and its Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH). Together with OCLC Researchers Jeff Young and Thom Hickey, Dr. Van de Sompel recently published an article on the OAI-PMH, in D-Lib Magazine: “Using the OAI-PMH...differently” (see link below for full text of article).
