Cass Kvenild
Dean of Libraries, University of Wyoming
Cass Kvenild is the Dean at the University of Wyoming Libraries. Appointed in 2024, she has held several administrative roles at UW. Before being appointed as interim dean, she served as associate dean of libraries. She was assistant dean of scholarship and research from 2018-19 and interim associate dean from 2015-16 and 2017-18, respectively. In her capacity as Dean, Ms. Kvenild collaborates with libraries across Wyoming and the Mountain West, working closely with colleagues at other libraries to build shared resources and partnerships. Her expertise spans library services for distance learners, information literacy instruction, assessment of library services, and even technical areas like cataloging, all with a focus on leveraging technology to enhance student learning in libraries.
She is active in ACRL, the Western Regional Storage Trust (WEST), sits on the Board of Trustees for the University Press of Colorado, and is a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Technology-Integrated Lessons and Teaching. Her recent publications examine the role of library collections, partnerships, and catalog records in promoting STEM curricula in K-12 classrooms. She is the co-author of Classroom Assessment Techniques for Librarians and has edited and written multiple articles and monographs about embedded librarianship. She received the ACRL Distance Learning Librarianship award in 2011 and the ACRL Distinguished Education and Behavioral Sciences award in 2020. Ms. Kvenild has served on OCLC Councils since 2022.
