- Components—CONTENTdm includes the Server, the Acquisition Station, and JPEG2000 and OCR Extensions depending on license level. No additional database or application software is required. End user collection access is available from any Web browser, restricted only by your security limitations on items or collections.
- Support for complex media—Build documents, books and other multiview and multipage materials. Present video and audio files with related transcripts.
- Solutions for newspapers and text-based items—Provide full access to your digital newspapers and other text-based items, including their transcripts and metadata, and side-by-side image and text display. Highlights: Import of NDNP data format, support for full article segmentation, JPEG2000 for large format pages, electronic article clipper – and – the inclusion of newspapers with other media items in the same collection.
- Batch import tools—Import images and metadata quickly and easily, as well as text files for full-text searching. Batch import for documents, books, and other multipage materials is also supported.
- JPEG2000—Integrated JPEG2000 capability, supports high-quality, large format images—without a browser plug-in.
- Image rights options—Band, brand or watermark images. Band using a band of color and words, brand using icons and words, or watermark using grayscale images.
- Integrated ABBYY FineReader® OCR option for full-text searching—Capture text for addition to searchable metadata fields within your collections. When viewed, items prepared with this feature will display highlighted search terms within the image.
- Controlled vocabulary—Use the Library of Congress Thesaurus for Graphical Materials I or use your own vocabularies.
- Customizable user experience—Create predefined queries across or within collections with an easy-to-use wizard. All interfaces are also customizable by your programming staff.
- Hosting Services—Host your own collections or let OCLC do it for you.
Additional options
JPEG2000 Extension—Convert full resolution files to JPEG2000 or import existing JPEG2000 files; supports dynamic decompression and display of JPEG2000 images in standard browsers without the need for plug-ins.
Integrated OCR—Build collections more efficiently—and provide full-text searching--with the integrated OCR (optical character recognition) capability.
Multi-Site Server—Query multiple CONTENTdm Servers in remote locations from a single search interface.
