Reinhard Altenhöner
Deputy Director General, Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin

Reinhard Altenhöner is deputy general director of the Staatsbibliothek Berlin / Preußischer Kulturbesitz. The focus of his activities is on digital services and process reorganization with special emphasis on (meta-)data management, digital archiving and strategic process management. Until 2015 he was responsible for the department "Information Infrastructure and Conservation" in the German National Library (DNB), the national library of Germany. Based on his experience in previous positions in Bonn, Münster and Mainz, he has expertise in the areas of IT infrastructure, digital library services, long-term archiving, data governance, project and strategy development as well as organizational restructuring. Of interest to him are standardization, data/data interoperability and semantic technologies. He is a member in several committees and scientific steering boards and publishes regularly, works as an evaluator for various national and international programs and has teaching assignments at two universities. He has been associated with OCLC for many years, working with European and US-American colleagues.
