WMS Connect x DevConnect - Let Me See Your License: Adding Title Level Notes to Limited-Access Ebooks

Learn how Candace Lebel at The Claremont Colleges Library used the WorldCat Knowledge Base API and a GOBI-provided list of ebook purchases since early 2009 to let their patrons know which of their ebooks were licensed for only limited access.

This event is on-demand.

In this session, Candace will explain how she used the WorldCat Knowledge Base API and a GOBI-provided list of her library’s ebook purchases since early 2009 to do a search to see what title and staff notes were already present in their ebook collections. She’ll also touch on how tickets submitted to her LibAnswers E-Resources queue indicated that patrons would benefit from knowing which of their ebooks were licensed for only limited access, and how this process provided the added benefit of identifying ebooks they’d somehow forgotten to turn on. Editing the appropriate KBART file to add a uniform note that would be visible in WorldCat Discovery was the objective.
