Dewey Linked Data schafft Verbindungen zwischen allgemeiner klassifikatorischer Inhaltserschließung und spezifischen Sachschlagwörtern

DUBLIN, Ohio, 15. August 2024–OCLC, der weltweit führende Anbieter von Bibliothekskatalogisierungs- und Metadaten-Services, nutzt die umfassenden Möglichkeiten des Dewey-Dezimalklassifikationssystems, um eine immer robustere Linked Data-Infrastruktur aufzubauen. Dies geschieht durch die Erstellung von Uniform Resource Identifiers (URIs) für Dewey-Notationen.

Als Ausgangspunkt für die thematischen Entitäten in WorldCat Entities nutzen wir Dewey Linked Data. Werk-Entitäten werden mit Dewey Linked Data-Klassifikationen angereichert. So entsteht eine Ebene neuer Beziehungen für Wissensgraphen, die neue Entdeckungen ermöglichen.

„OCLC setzt sich für die Linked Data-Strategie ein und veröffentlicht weiterhin vorhandene Bibliotheksinformationen als Linked Data, um eine bessere Erschließung und Entdeckung von Bibliotheksressourcen im Internet zu ermöglichen“, so Mary Sauer-Games, OCLC Vice President, Global Product Management. „Mit der Veröffentlichung von OCLC Meridian und WorldCat Entities haben wir bereits grundlegende Schritte beim Aufbau eines Linked Data-Ökosystems unternommen, und jetzt freuen wir uns, die Transformation eines weiteren Datensatzes bekannt zu geben: das Dewey Decimal Classification System.“

Mithilfe von maschinenlesbaren und webfreundlichen URIs verbinden Dewey Linked Data Klassifikations- und Schlagwortdaten wie z. B. FAST-Linked Data miteinander. Das OCLC Research-Team hat bei der Zuordnung von Dewey-Klassifikationen zu den Schlagwörtern von FAST mitgewirkt. Diese Beziehungen wurden in den Dewey Linked Data ergänzt.

Jede Person kann ein Basis-Notationsset von Dewey Linked Data einsehen und darauf zugreifen und schon heute Dewey-URIs in eigene lokale Datenmanagement- und Discovery-Systeme integrieren.

Bibliotheken, die eine WebDewey-Subskription haben, können auf die gesamte Palette an URIs von Dewey Linked Data und die zugehörigen Metadaten zugreifen. Darüber hinaus stehen zwei neue APIs zur Verfügung, mit denen Anwenderinnen und Anwender Dewey Linked Data einfach in andere Systeme und Services integrieren können. WebDewey-Nutzer*innen können im Rahmen ihrer Subskription auf diese APIs zugreifen.
