Find in a Library lets you locate books, videos and other materials in a library near you. This unique service is built into Google Scholar. When your Google Scholar search term matches the title of a library-owned item, the search result for that item will include a "Library Search" link.

In the example below, the search phrase "chemical reaction" returns a result for a research book. (See tips on how to reach Find in a Library using Google Scholar.)

Click the link to go directly to Find in a Library, where you are presented basic information about the item and a location search box. Enter your postal code, or your city, state or country (spelled out, or as a postal abbreviation) and click the Go button.

You are presented a table showing libraries near your location that own the item. You may also be shown (or have the option of expanding to) libraries in your region and/or country.

Click any available Library Name link to go to that library's Web site—often, directly to the item record in the library's online catalog. Or click the Library Information icon to see the library's location and contact information.

Note: Find in a Library may not include results from all libraries in your area. Find in a Library searches the records of libraries whose catalogs are part of the OCLC WorldCat global catalog.

If a library near you does not appear in your search results, it may be because the library does not use WorldCat, or does not own the item. Your local library, however, may be able to borrow the item from a library that does appear in your search results. Contact your local library and ask if it participates in a resource-sharing program with any of the displayed libraries.
