CONTENTdm Featured Collections: September 2008

Organizations worldwide are using CONTENTdm® Digital Collection Management Software to create thousands of outstanding digital collections and to provide easy access to their unique holdings.

This month, four collections from the CONTENTdm Collection of Collections are featured on the OCLC Web site. The featured collections for September are Building Oregon: Architecture of Oregon and the Pacific Northwest, Ohio's Heritage Northeast, Senator Joe McCarthy: Audio Excerpts, 1950-1954 and 2006 Florida Artists' Book Prize Exhibition.

Building Oregon: Architecture of Oregon and the Pacific Northwest provides over 14,000 images and documentation about the architectural heritage of the Pacific Northwest, with special emphasis on Oregon's built environment. In collaboration with the Oregon State Historic Preservation Office, many images in the collection represent works listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Cleveland State University; Akron-Summit County Public Library; Cleveland Public Library; Oberlin College Archives; Rodman Public Library; Westlake Porter Public Library; Cuyahoga County Public Library; and Shaker Heights Public Library

Ohio's Heritage Northeast is a collaboration of eight public and academic libraries that have made it possible to simultaneously search the local history materials they each hold in their CONTENTdm sites using the CONTENTdm Multi-Site Server from OCLC.

Senator Joe McCarthy: Audio Excerpts, 1950-1954

This collection provides access to 35 streaming audio files containing public remarks made by the Republican senator from Wisconsin during his controversial campaign to remove communists and communist sympathizers from government.  The excerpts were created from original analog tape recordings in the Joseph R. McCarthy Papers at Marquette University.

Broward County Library's Bienes Museum of the Modern Book used CONTENTdm software to create a virtual exhibit catalog for the 2006 Florida Artists' Book Prize Exhibition including brief movies of the books in motion.
