OCLC /

We are delighted to announce that Constance Malpas has been promoted to Vice President, Research at OCLC. Constance has been an integral part of the OCLC Research team since 2006, leading research and strategic initiatives that advance the efficiency and impact of libraries worldwide. In her new role, Constance will guide the ongoing innovation and growth of OCLC Research, the Research Library Partnership, Leaders Council, and WebJunction.

“The advancement of the library community has never been more critical, and we are fully committed to delivering innovative, applicable research with and for libraries,” says Skip Prichard, President and CEO of OCLC. “As libraries redefine their roles in education, technology, and community well-being, they need research that translates directly into strategic action. Constance has a proven ability to connect deep research with real-world library strategy, making her the ideal leader for this next era.”

The OCLC Research strategic plan includes establishing a research agenda around technology transformation, the changing role of libraries in education, and the societal impacts of libraries on community well-being and belonging. By attracting new talent into key roles and engaging the global library leaders of OCLC’s Leaders Council, this latest era for OCLC Research is designed to be more agile while continuing to advance OCLC's public purpose.

Since joining OCLC, Constance has held senior roles spanning research, strategic intelligence, and enterprise program leadership. Constance previously served in leadership roles at the New York Academy of Medicine and RLG. A recognized author and speaker in the library and information science field, she holds an M.A. in History of Science from Princeton University and a B.A. from Mount Holyoke College.
