The Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system, devised by library pioneer Melvil Dewey in the 1870s and owned by OCLC since 1988, provides a dynamic structure for the organization of library collections. Now in its 23rd edition, and available in print and Web versions, the DDC is the world’s most widely used library classification system.

Recent enhancements
- The four-volume print edition of DDC 23 was published in May 2011. It provides many new and updated numbers and topics, as well as tools to enhance classifier efficiency, all without major revisions to the schedules.
- The first electronic versions of DDC 23 became available in WebDewey in May 2011.

Requirements
WebDewey system requirements include: 300 MHz Pentium II; 64MB RAM; display resolution of 1024 x 768; and the latest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
