Society of Chief Librarians Seminar
This year’s Seminar aims to explore the cross–cutting nature of the Public Libraries contribution both nationally and locally to key public policy initiatives and objectives.
This event has passed.
"Last year, 98% of those that attended stated that they considered the Seminar to be a valuable learning and networking opportunity.
We aim to offer you the same experience this year and you will see from the programme that we’ve already lined up a number of high profile speakers including Libraries Minister Ed Vaizey, who will join us on day one to share the Government’s views on libraries and outline potential challenges and opportunities going forward.
Sue Charteris, who has recently worked with Locality, on their report on community run libraries, will provide us with a view on alternative delivery models including volunteer run libraries and co-production.
Tony Travers, a highly regarded academic and journalist who specialises in issues affecting local government, will look at the current economic climate and the implications for the future for our services.
Lawyer, John Sharland will be sharing his work on the issues and the lessons to be learned from library closures and the process of judicial review." SCL Website
OCLC will also be exhibiting at this two day event, please feel free to come to our stand and speak with a member of the team.
