OCLC Canada is offering a 25% discount on content and access for first-time purchases of NetLibrary
This discount is only for libraries new to NetLibrary and will expire on February 28, 2010.
With the release of Barnes & Noble’s electronic portable reading device, the Nook, along with existing products like the Sony Reader, portable devices were popular gifts this holiday season. As a result, the demand for downloadable content is expected to soar for libraries in 2010. NetLibrary PDF eBooks are compatible with the Nook, as well as many other portable devices. This means that patrons who own these devices can borrow, transfer and read NetLibrary PDF eBooks from their library. NetLibrary offers more than 140,000 PDF titles that are compatible with increasingly popular eBook readers, including all four Sony Digital Readers (PRS-300, 505, 600 and 700BC), as well as the COOL-ER.
In celebration of this rising reading trend, OCLC Canada is offering a 25% discount on content and access for first-time purchases of NetLibrary eBooks and eAudiobooks.
Consortia that purchase NetLibrary eContent (eBooks and eAudiobooks) for the first time will also receive a 15% discount on content and access. This discount may be extended to new consortia through June 30, 2010.
Note: When a library purchases the ACS license, patrons can download eBooks for offline viewing. This functionality allows patrons to transfer eBooks to portable devices, such as the Sony Reader or the Barnes & Noble Nook, or to view the eBook offline. Because of the increased demand and use of these portable devices, NetLibrary will increase its fee for the ACS license to cover additional associated costs. As of March 1, 2010, the one-time ACS license fee will increase from its current price ($350 USD) to $500 USD. Until then, the fee will remain $350, and may be waived with a $5,000 purchase of NetLibrary products. Also important to note, there will be no renewal fee.
