Examples of OCLC partnerships

Content partners put rich, descriptive information into library workflows and users’ discovery paths

OCLC has worked with the world’s leading publishers for decades and partners with all three of the top aggregators: EBSCO, ProQuest and Gale. Currently OCLC partners with more than 80% of the top academic publishers in the world, such as Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, Oxford University Press and Taylor & Francis. By providing metadata and other descriptive content (such as cover art, above) for more than 1.2 billion resources, these partnerships help libraries represent their electronic and physical collections more completely and efficiently.

Other content partnerships bring in local and commercial digital collections from more than 1,700 contributors, which give library users fast access to millions of scanned and born-digital items such as books, journal articles, manuscripts, audio and video files, photographic images, data sets, and theses and dissertations.

Content partners value the relationship with OCLC as it helps make their content more widely discoverable, and libraries are assured valuable materials get into the researchers’ hands quickly and easily.

OCLC partnerships with library service providers streamline your workflows, save you time and eliminate redundancy. OCLC helps integrate cataloging, interlibrary loan and discovery workflows across services like Atlas Systems’ ILLiad, ExLibris’ Primo, EBSCO Discovery Services and Summon from SerialsSolutions. Connecting scanning services (above) to resource sharing with partners such as Scannx, Ivina and Image Access helps simplify the electronic delivery of requested materials.

Consumer partnerships get your resources into the sites and services your users rely on every day

OCLC has been working with major consumer services such as Google Books and Google Scholar, EasyBib and Goodreads for years. We want to help connect information seekers to the unique and authoritative content that libraries provide—and so do our partners! By providing comprehensive metadata about hundreds of millions of resources, OCLC puts the richness of its members’ libraries at the fingertips of people wherever they work, learn, play and share online.
