Michael Levine-Clark

Michael Levine-Clark is the Dean of the University of Denver Libraries in Colorado, a position he has held since 2016. Other roles he has held at the University of Denver Libraries during his time there since 1999 include Associate Dean for Scholarly Communication and Collections Services, Collections Librarian, and Reference Librarian.

Deeply committed to library collaboration, Mr. Levine-Clark co-founded the open-access journal, Collaborative Librarianship, and continues to serve on its editorial board. He has held leadership roles in multiple professional organizations focused on collection development and acquisitions. As co-chair of the NISO Recommended Practices for Demand-Driven Acquisition of Monographs Working Group, he was a lead author of the recommended practices document. For his work on e-books and demand-driven acquisition models, he received the 2015 Harrassowitz Leadership in Library Acquisitions Award. For many years, he was active in shared print initiatives and chaired the executive committees of the Western Regional Storage Trust and the Rosemont Shared Print Alliance. In Colorado, he serves as chair of the board of the Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries, co-chairs the Alliance's Shared Collection Development Committee, and serves as secretary-treasurer on the University Press of Colorado Board. Mr. Levine-Clark is widely published and has been invited to speak on six continents about trends in academic libraries and scholarly communication. Mr. Levine-Clark has served on OCLC Councils since 2021.
