Elizabeth G. McClenney

Elizabeth G. McClenney has been the Library Director of Fintel Library, Roanoke College in Virginia, since 2015. Prior positions include Deputy Director of the Atlanta University Center Robert W. Woodruff Library, Associate University Librarian – Technical Services at UC-Santa Barbara, Associate Librarian – Technical Services at Virginia State University, Access Services Department Head and Bibliographic Services Librarian at Old Dominion University, LC Unit Head at Georgia State University, and Cataloger at College of William & Mary. These roles have led to her deep expertise in information access and management, digital systems and services, resource sharing, and organizational leadership.

Ms. McClenney frequently presents or moderates discussions on library innovation, digital initiatives, equity, and inclusion in collections, and change management. She co-authored an article on developing leadership within historically Black college and university (HBCU) libraries as part of the HBCU Library Alliance. She is the Virginia Independent College & University Library Association (VICULA) representative to the VIVA Steering Committee and immediate past chair. Ms. McClenney served on the VIVA Resource Sharing Committee, underlining her leadership in inter-library cooperation, and on the Library Advisory Committee of the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia. She serves on the William & Mary Libraries Board of Directors and is its immediate past chair. She previously chaired the LYRASIS Board of Trustees. Ms. McClenney has served on OCLC Councils since 2019.
