Dewey is the world's most widely used library classification system

The Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system has been translated into more than 30 languages and serves library users in over 200,000 libraries in 135+ countries worldwide, making it the world's most widely used library classification system. More than 60 of these countries use the DDC to organize their national bibliographies. Here are translations recently completed or in progress.

Bibliotheca Alexandrina is in the process of translating Edition 22.

Le Cercle de la Librairie in Paris, France, has published several abridged versions of unabridged editions, including one based on Edition 22 in 2005. For more information, contact:

Work is completed at Die Deutsche Bibliothek on the first German translation of the DDC. The translation is based on DDC 22, and is the first outside of the English-language standard edition to be published simultaneously in Web and print versions.
