A 90-minute session oriented for cataloguing practitioners and decision-makers in libraries in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa regions. We do not restrict participation from other regions, as this meeting offers insight and practical updates on prevalent topics for everyone in our community.

We have an array of speakers and plenty of opportunity to ask questions throughout the program.

We kick-off with a session by Dr. Pardaad Chamsaz, Metadata Lead for Equity and Inclusion at the British Library, talking about the Library’s inclusive cataloguing efforts as part of its multi-year Race Equality Action Plan. Jay Holloway, Director for End User Services at OCLC, will then summarize the work completed to address rapid harm reduction through locally-defined subjects in WorldCat Discovery.  

We will also have a cataloguing update, led by David Whitehair, Director of Metadata Services at OCLC. David will provide an update on Connexion, WorldShare Collection Manager, and the WorldCat Metadata API. He will be joined by Jeff Mixter, Senior Product Manager in Metadata Services at OCLC, who will focus on linked data developments.

Rounding off, we will look at work relating to metadata quality, including how machine learning models are revolutionizing de-duplication efforts in WorldCat. Becky Dean, Lead Data Analyst at OCLC, will also provide an update on FAST (Faceted Application of Subject Terminology).
