OCLC recognizes the importance of continuous development and training to ensure employees have the knowledge and tools to perform their job responsibilities at the highest level and to meet the challenges of a demanding library environment in rapidly changing information age. OCLC encourages employees to develop their skills through the various programs and development opportunities provided by the organization, as well as academic offerings through our tuition reimbursement program.

Development and Training

OCLC provides development and training opportunities for employees in the areas of:

  • Management and leadership development
  • Technology training
  • Individual and team assessments and coaching
  • Office automation
  • Quality control
  • Ethics and compliance training
  • Workforce harassment training
  • On-line self-paced learning in a variety of genres

Educational Assistance

OCLC offers educational assistance through its tuition reimbursement program. Reimbursements are based on achievement, up to a pro-rated maximum of $5,250 per calendar year at accredited institutions of higher education. Courses that are taken must be relevant to the employee’s current job or to a position to which the employee may reasonably aspire. The Organization Development and Learning team assists employees, as needed, to locate programs to best align with the employee's desires and the needs of the organization, along with regularly scheduled career fairs which showcase various academic institutions and their program offerings.
