Ted directs the strategy and execution for OCLC's data services portfolio. The Quality Control team manages the quality of the WorldCat shared cataloging database. The Operations group coordinates the loading and ongoing synchronization of thousands of library catalogs with WorldCat; it also manages ingest of third-party article content and data migrations for OCLC's WorldShare Management System. The WorldCat knowledge base team manages the growth and quality of the WorldCat knowledge base of licensed electronic resources. The Platform Team provides governance and technical support for the development of a set of APIs that expose WorldCat data assets to library and commercial partners. The Netherlands-based Data Services team provides product management for the global CBS metadata management system and support for the GGC, the Dutch library community's metadata hub. Finally, the Data Services team manages the WorldCat Registry and the WorldCat database infrastructure, and leads innovation in data mining of WorldCat data assets.
Ted brings more than a decade of experience in the integrated library system industry to his role as Executive Director. He has presented and published articles on diverse library system topics such as electronic resource management systems and standards for the exchange of ILS-related data. Ted has participated in a number of standards-related activities, including the NISO/EDItEUR Joint Working Party on the Exchange of Serials Subscription Data and the NISO Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative.
Prior to joining OCLC in 2008, Ted was a senior product manager and director of customer service at Innovative Interfaces, and before that worked in academic libraries doing acquisitions, cataloging and reference work. He received his MLS from Syracuse University and a BA in International Affairs from Marquette University.
