Community Manager, WorldShare Applications
Helene Blowers is a library innovator, writer, digital strategist and avid soccer mom who currently lends her leadership to OCLC as the Community Manager of WorldShare Applications. A well-known speaker and consultant on library innovation and fresh practices, she is best known for the discovery learning program, Learning 2.0: 23 Things, which she created while serving as Technology Director for the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library (NC) that created a massive 2.0 learning movement among libraries worldwide.
Helene joined OCLC in 2012 after serving five years with the Columbus Metropolitan Library as the Director of Digital Strategy. In 2007 she was named a Library Journal "Mover & Shaker," and in 2008 received ALA's LITA/Library Hi Tech Award for Excellence for her many contributions to library and information technology. She is the lead author of Weaving a Library Web: A Guide to Developing Children's Websites (2004) and has written for several publications, including Computers in Libraries and Digitale Biblioteek (Netherlands).
