The guidance in Table 3 only mentions a "single" work in relation to an individual author, it does not mention a "single" work by two or more authors. (It mentions two or more authors only in relation to "collected" works.) So my question is, is a *single literary work* by joint authors treated under T3A (for an individual author) or T3B (for more than one author)? Some cataloguers consider that joint authors can act as a single author. Do you agree?

Actually, yes we do agree.

Table 3 is divided into three subtables:

Table 3A for description, critical appraisal, biography, single or collected works of an individual author.

Table 3B for description, critical appraisal, biography, collected works of two or more authors; also for rhetoric in specific literary forms.

Table 3C for additional elements used in number building within Table 3B and as instructed in 700.4, 791.4, 808-809.

A single *jointly authored* literary work is classed according the Table 3A rules. Collected works of a pair who produce a series of jointly authored works is classed as the work of a "single author." They remain bound in a single authorship, and collaborated to produce a single set of jointly authored products. In other words, for the purpose of Table 3 and concerning single works, joint authors are treated as single authors.
