Irene Hoffman is responsible for developing and facilitating strategic relationships with networks and other library service providers in the US to enhance services, education and service options for member libraries. Prior to joining OCLC, her career has been in academic libraries working for the University of California system, the California State University system and Georgetown University. She has expertise in areas of professional development for library professionals, library assessment, fund raising, personnel, recruitment and strategic planning.
Irene holds a Master of Science degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine and Applied Arts from Northeastern Illinois University. She has written and spoken on such topics as careers for librarians, diversity in research libraries, successful fund-raising, and library outreach and marketing programs. She was also co-author and director of a successful IMLS grant to recruit and retain new librarians to academic libraries. She is an active member of the American Library Association and the Association of College and Research Libraries.
