Reference and Adult Services Librarian, Jefferson-Madison Regional Library
Erica is a public librarian focused on adult programming and reference services. Her areas of focus are emerging technology and downloadable media. She participates on committees that plan and implement technology decisions and programming initiatives for the library system. She received her MLS degree from the University at Buffalo in 2008 and has been working in public libraries ever since.
Erica currently works at the Central branch of a four county, eight branch system. It employs just over 100 people across several locations. There are over 500,000 items and it circulates over 1.5 million items per year, serving a population of over 200,000 people. Erica is responsible for adult programming, reference service, reader's advisory, website editing, social media posts, technology instruction, collection management, and blogging.
Erica is a member of the Virginia Library Association and has presented at their annual conference multiple times. In addition, she was a member of the most recent library service trip to Guatemala with Canadian group Librarians Without Borders. They spent their time building the collection of a community library. She has participated on a sister cities trip to Ghana which focused on building a community library there and is a participant in the International Librarians Network, which allows her to learn more about librarians and libraries in other countries through her partners.
