WorldCat Discovery Configuration, Part 2: Patron-facing features

This module provides instruction on how to personalize the WorldCat® Discovery interface and enhance the interface for your library patrons and staff. This builds upon information that is presented in Configuration Part 1: Content and staff features.
Upon completion of this session, learners will be able to personalize and display links to information specific to the library’s site, such as a chat widget and a sign in screen for remote users. How to set up access to e-resources as identified in the WorldCat knowledge base and access to a Request Item button for interlibrary loan requests will also be reviewed. Finally, a look at the HTML code for adding a search box for default searching and creating a URL to access specific databases on the advanced search screen will be presented.
This course is for institutions that want to add patron-specific features to their WorldCat Discovery service. Other staffs that administer online resources may find this content useful for configuring WorldCat Discovery for their institution.
Before attending this class, please register to obtain your library’s WorldCat Discovery custom Web address. Be sure that you have access to the OCLC Service Configuration as well.
