Key to prizes

MB : Man Booker Prize The Man Booker Prize was founded in 1969 by Booker McConnell, a multinational conglomerate company. Administered by Book Trust in the United Kingdom, this award is given to the best full-length novel written in English by a citizen of the U.K., the Commonwealth, Eire, Pakistan, or South Africa.
NB : National Book Award

For over fifty years the National Book Awards, now administered by the National Book Foundation, have recognized books of exceptional merit written by Americans.

NBC : National Book Critics Circle Award The National Book Critics Circle consists of more than 700 book reviewers. Since its founding in 1974, the NBCC's centerpiece has been annual awards for the best book in five categories: fiction, general nonfiction, biography/autobiography, poetry, and criticism. In addition, each year the NBCC awards the Ivan Sandrof Award for Contribution to American Arts and Letters and salutes one member of the Circle with the Nona Balakian Citation for Excellence in Reviewing.
P: Pulitzer Prize

Since 1917, the goal of the Pulitzer Prizes has been to offer an incentive to excellence in American arts and letters. Today the Pulitzer Prize Board awards a total of 21 annual prizes in journalism, literature, poetry, drama, and music.

 

C: Caldecott Medal The Caldecott Medal is awarded annually to the illustrator of the most distinguished American picture book for children.
N: Newbery Medal The Newbery Medal honors the year's most distinguished contribution to American literature for children. The medal was established in 1922 and is presented annually by the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the American Library Association (ALA). The recipient must be a citizen or resident of the United States.
CSK: Coretta Scott King Award Commemorating the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and honoring his widow, Coretta Scott King, for her courage and determination in continuing the work for peace and world brotherhood, the Coretta Scott King Award is presented annually by a task force of the American Library Association. Recipients are authors and illustrators of African descent whose distinguished books promote an understanding and appreciation of the American dream.
