VIAF is a joint project of several national libraries, implemented and hosted by OCLC. The project's goal is to lower the cost and increase the utility of library authority files by matching and linking the authority files of national libraries, and then making that information available on the Web. Jenny’s role in this activity is to accept data from participating institutions and then match personal, corporate and geographic names across the files.
FRBR is a model that defines how bibliographic records can be clustered into intellectually related works. OCLC Research’s FRBR project clusters all of WorldCat using VIAF data to enhance the matching processes.
