If you're attending the IFLA World Library and Information Congress in Columbus, Ohio, we invite you to attend the OCLC Research Update on Wednesday, 17 August from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, Room C124 - C125.
The agenda includes:
- OCLC Research Senior Research Scientist and Director of User Research Lynn Silipigni Connaway will provide a quick intro and overview of the agenda.
- Library Services Development in an Emerging Collaborative Landscape
Research Scientist Ixchel Faniel and Senior Program Officer Rebecca Bryant will consider research and case studies that demonstrate how new services such as research data management (RDM) and research information management (RIM) require increased communication, coordination, and collaboration with diverse stakeholder groups within and outside the library.
- Library Resource Description after MARC: Lessons from OCLC's Experiments with Linked Data
Senior Research Scientist Jean Godby will briefly discuss how OCLC's recent work on Library Linked Data is disruptive to previous practice yet also an extension of the timeless values that underlie library resource curation.
- Scaling Supercharged Storytimes
WebJunction Program Manager Betha Gutsche will review WebJunction’s recently completed Supercharged Storytimes project which demonstrates how academic research can be translated into library practice, and how learning is scaled around that practice.
