In January and March, the REALM project hosted two online forums to foster discussion, knowledge sharing, and mutual support among those who work in and with the cultural heritage field. The conversations were designed to elicit examples, perspectives, and ideas that can inform REALM deliverables and recommendations for future initiatives and projects to bolster capacity and resilience of cultural heritage institutions.
The first forum delved into the experiences of libraries, archives, and museums (LAMs) leading staff and public through COVID-19, to determine the resources LAMs need to prepare and respond to priority needs for future public health crises. The second forum gathered perspectives and insights from representatives of public libraries and museums that community members turned to for information, resources, services, sanctuary, and/or programming during the pandemic. Summaries of the findings from these rich conversations are now available to read.
Join us for the 5 May webinar “We can’t go it alone: Community-centered collaborations during COVID-19.” Libraries, archives, and museums have adapted their facilities, services, and programs in response to community needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many found that building collaborative networks among museums, libraries, and other local organizations helped manage uncertainty and strengthen capacity.
Panelists from a variety of cultural heritage institutions will share their experiences with local, state, and national partnerships and networks during the COVID-19 pandemic and highlight successful strategies that can help you lead staff and public during a crisis.
