OCLC named among 'Best Employers in Ohio' for 10th consecutive year
Nonprofit global library technology organization ranked 11th in 'large employers' category
Best Employers in Ohio is a program of the Best Companies Group in conjunction with the Ohio Society for Human Resource Management State Council. The Best Employers in Ohio recognition is based in large part on confidential surveys of each organization's employees.
OCLC is ranked 11th out of 24 recognized among the Best Employers in the Large Employers (250 or more employees) category. The complete list of organizations recognized as Best Employers has been published in the Ohio Society for Human Resource Management State Council publication.
"OCLC's dedicated staff strives to provide the best possible technology and information services to libraries and their users worldwide," said Skip Prichard, OCLC President and CEO. "We, as an organization, strive to provide the best tools and work environment possible to help our teams succeed. We also provide benefits and wellness opportunities to help support staff outside of work. We appreciate this recognition among the best employers in Ohio. And we will continue to make OCLC a great place to work in Ohio, and in our offices around the world."
OCLC provides technologies for cataloging, reference, resource sharing, preservation, library management and web services to libraries. Researchers, students, faculty, scholars, professional librarians and other information seekers use OCLC services to obtain information they need. OCLC and its member libraries worldwide have created and maintain WorldCat, the world's most comprehensive online database for finding library materials.
Best Companies Group conducts a simple yet thorough company assessment. The assessment is a two-part process designed to gather detailed data about each participating company. In part one, the employer completes a questionnaire and in part two, employees of the company complete a confidential employee engagement and satisfaction survey.
Of OCLC's Ohio-based employees, 56 percent responded to the survey, sharing candid feedback in the areas of leadership and planning; corporate culture and communications; role satisfaction; work environment; relationship with supervisor; training, development and resources; pay and benefits; and overall engagement.
The collected information is combined to produce a detailed set of data enabling analysts to determine the strengths and opportunities of the participating companies. The workplaces are ranked based on this data.
Eligibility for the Best Employers in Ohio program is open to all publicly or privately held businesses, either for-profit, not-for-profit or government entities.
