OCLC to support interoperability between Talis Aspire Reading Lists, WorldShare Management Services
Faculty using Talis Aspire will be able to discover and add links to course reading lists for print or electronic library content available through WorldShare
DUBLIN, Ohio, 1 May 2018—OCLC and Talis, the UK-based organization that creates resource management solutions for educators, have signed an agreement that will enable faculty at institutions that subscribe to both Talis Aspire Reading Lists and OCLC's WorldShare Management Services to create reading lists for students with improved integration through their libraries.
Talis Aspire Reading Lists are designed to improve student learning experiences, and support teaching and learning strategies. The reading list services make it simple to create and manage resource lists including library content listed in WorldShare Management Services (WMS), OCLC's cloud-based library services platform.
While locating library content from within WMS, faculty will be able to bookmark both print or electronic content and quickly add the citation to their course reading list.
"We are thrilled that our library management system, OCLC WorldShare Management Services, have partnered with Talis to provide library integration with Talis Aspire online reading lists and copyright management," said James Hodgkin, Associate Director and University Librarian at the University of Gloucestershire. "This important juncture will allow us to explore and enhance the student journey as it relates to the use of learning resources, and as a part of our broader digital strategy."
"We are pleased to announce the partnership between Talis and OCLC, having recently added new customers who are using the OCLC WorldShare Management Services," said David Errington, CEO at Talis. "At Talis, we are committed to providing the best possible service for our users, and we are delighted to now be able to offer improved integration for more of our customers, who are either new to Talis, or new to OCLC. This partnership will provide better student experience with improved access to resources, and a smoother workflow for libraries."
"This partnership between OCLC and Talis will make library collections visible to students from within Talis Aspire Reading Lists," said Chip Nilges, OCLC Vice President, Business Development. "By enabling our services to interoperate, we can provide content access at the point of need—in this case, through links from faculty-created course reading lists. This functionality has been specifically requested by our member libraries in the UK. We are eager to partner with library service providers like Talis who can help our users complete their work with greater ease and fewer clicks."
