Oxford Brookes University occupies a strong position in UK higher education. As part of its ongoing strategy, Oxford Brookes is committed to delivering infrastructure and services focused on supporting the quality and effectiveness of learning, teaching and research and enhancing the overall experience of students. The acquisition of WMS is an important element of this strategic theme.
"Oxford Brookes University has over 150 years of history," said Eric van Lubeek, Vice President, Managing Director, OCLC EMEA & APAC. "With an already high reputation for teaching and research and a desire to achieve more, it's important that key functions like the library have the right tools. We are delighted that Oxford Brookes have selected WMS. They join a growing community of leading higher education institutions in the UK and worldwide on the WorldShare Platform."
WorldShare Management Services (WMS) is the library services platform that offers all of the applications needed to manage a library, including acquisitions, circulation, metadata, resource sharing, license management and a single-search discovery interface for library users.
WMS also includes analytics tools and a range of standard reports, and allows libraries to develop their own analytics so they can better understand their activities and track key metrics over time.
"The library plays a very important part in the University's overall strategy of delivering an outstanding experience for our students," explains Paul Harwood, Associate Director of Learning Resources Collections at Oxford Brookes University. "We chose WMS because it can help us become a smarter, more intuitive and flexible service for our users whenever and from wherever they engage with us."
