OCLC named among 'Best Places to Work' in Central Ohio

DUBLIN, Ohio, USA, 20 November 2012—OCLC, the nonprofit, membership, computer library service and research organization based in Dublin, has been named among the "Best Places to Work" in Central Ohio.

OCLC was ranked fifth in the category for organizations with 500 or more employees. The rankings were determined by questionnaires completed confidentially by employees and data collected by Quantum, an Omaha, Nebraska-based research organization. Awards were presented during a luncheon, hosted by Columbus Business First, at the Greater Columbus Convention Center on November 7.

"OCLC staff share a deep commitment to our public purposes of furthering access to the world’s information and reducing costs for libraries," said Jay Jordan, OCLC President and CEO. "As an organization, we will continue our commitment to attracting and retaining highly talented and motivated people, and making OCLC a great place to work. We are honored to receive this award."

OCLC headquarters in Dublin employs 750; a total of 1,200 employees work in OCLC offices around the world.

In addition to "Best Places to Work," OCLC has been recognized by several other organizations this year as an outstanding workplace:

The Best Places to Work program, launched in 2005, is a voluntary nomination-based program. Each nominated company had the option to participate in the survey process free of charge. Quantum Workplace hosted an anonymous online survey with questions about workplace satisfaction.

All companies that met the completed survey requirements had their individual scores tallied by Quantum Workplace and were sent an overview of their company’s scores.

Each organization is ranked against the other companies in their size category. The top companies in each size category are honored as Business First’s Best Places to Work.
