OCLC has a new partnership with Bibliotekscentrum Sverige AB, a leading provider of library software in Sweden, to deliver its flagship services, WorldShare Management Services (WMS) and WorldShare e-Services, to Swedish academic libraries.
Bibliotekscentrum will strengthen and complement the portfolio of solutions that it already delivers to the Swedish market with the addition of these OCLC services.
Key to the success of WMS has been a phased roll-out of these services globally. ‘’Every country has its own unique attributes in terms of library operations and before embarking on offering these services in Sweden, it was vital that OCLC understood those characteristics. By partnering with us, OCLC has secured a partner with the highest amount of expertise and knowledge of the region,’’ said Henrik Hagelberg, Managing Director, at Bibliotekscentrum Sverige AB.
‘’This is an important initiative for both organisations. WorldShare Management Services was the first cloud-based library management system when it launched in 2011 and in a short period of time has been selected by more than 600 libraries worldwide,’’ said Eric van Lubeek, Vice President, Managing Director, OCLC EMEA & APAC. He added, ‘’Sharing is at the heart of the development approach taken with WMS. Sharing data and workflows has resulted in far greater efficiencies for libraries, and we are keen to bring those benefits to Swedish libraries.’’
