Julie L. Miller, Ph.D., M.L.S, is Dean of Libraries at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. She has been a professional librarian for twenty-five years and has held leadership positions in academic libraries since 1998, including serving as University Librarian at Western New Mexico University and Associate Dean of Libraries at Eastern Washington University. She is currently the dean of libraries at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. She serves on the Board of the Private Academic Libraries Network of Indiana (PALNI). She has provided leadership in several collaborative initiatives using library resources, services, and technology to promote student success and faculty research. Recent initiatives include: funding and implementation of an active learning classroom for library instruction; increased staffing and enhanced technologies in support of a robust open access institutional repository; oversight of the Center for Academic Technology; relocation to the Butler campus the technical infrastructure for the Indiana Preservation Network (InDiPres), a member of the MetaArchive Cooperative for digital preservation. Dr. Miller earned a Ph.D in English Language and Literature from Ohio University, with an emphasis on creative writing in poetry.
