Brenda is a born and raised Michigander but has spent the last 20 years living in the western United States and western Canada where she moved to in June 2009. Brenda earned her Master of Science in Information (MSI) from the University of Michigan in 1999. As a librarian, Brenda has been engaged across the spectrum of academic librarianship holding various professional roles encompassing reference services, instruction and information literacy, map and science librarianship, electronic resources management, collection development as well as serving in the administrative ranks as Associate University Librarian at the University of Lethbridge, and as University Librarian at Thompson Rivers University. Brenda is currently engaged as the Director, Teaching & Learning Resources for the College of the Rockies, in Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada.
Brenda also holds a Masters in Urban Planning (MUP ’92), and a Bachelor of Science (BS ‘87) degree in Geography with a Cartography Specialization (BS ‘87) both from Michigan State University and worked for ten years as a cartographer, geographer and urban planner, within local and state government and the telecommunications field prior to attaining her information degree.
