MacKenzie Smith is the University Librarian and Vice Provost for Digital Scholarship at the University of California, Davis. She oversees the library’s evolution for the 21st Century and the university’s evolution to 21st Century scholarship using technology and digital resources. She was previously with the libraries at Harvard and MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she led projects on digital libraries and archives, such as the popular DSpace open source software platform, Semantic Web applications for scholarly communications; and research data curation initiatives. She currently leads projects in Open Access sustainability, transforming library data workflows with Linked Data, and applications of data science to libraries.
